At a special Business Dinner with Andrew Mackenzie, President of the German-Australian Chamber and CEO of BHP, both the Chamber's newly appointed Executive Director and Chairman of the Board were welcomed by staff and members in attendance.
The new Executive Director, Ms Alexandra Voss, joins the Chamber after serving as the Chief Representative of the Delegation of German Industry & Commerce and Managing Director of the German Chamber of Commerce in Beijing since 2011. Succeeding Mr Kristian Wolf, she brings invaluable experience managing a German bilateral association and will help the Chamber continue its upward trajectory from the past six years.
The new Chairman of the Board is Mr Jeff Connolly, CEO and Managing Director at Siemens Australia. Mr Connolly has served on the board since 2013 and succeeds Mr Ron Koehler, CEO at DB Schenker Australia. Mr Koehler will continue to serve on the Chamber board.
Held at Melbourne's beautiful RACV City Club, the business dinner discussion focused on the topic: Free Trade: The Driving Force of the Global Economy. Dr Christoph Hein, Asia-Pacific Correspondent at Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, moderated the 'fireside chat' that followed Mr Mackenzie's keynote. This was a fantastic opportunity for members to hear from and pose questions to the Chamber President. The German-Australian Chamber looks forward to continued success with its new Executive Director and Chairman of the Board, following recent major achievements such as last year's Asia-Pacific Regional Conference in Perth.
