In collaboration with the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany Sydney, and Audi Centre Sydney
Worldwide people are celebrating the Munich-originated tradition of Oktoberfest. What is now known as THE German cultural festival, goes back to the early 19th century. But did you know, before it became a three-week long public festival, it all started with a royal wedding between Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen? As one big celebration isn’t enough, the couple decided to extend the festivities and include horse races and other spectacles into the multi-day celebrations. Opening it to the public for years to come, the traditions slightly changed and evolved to what the world now knows as the Oktoberfest.
The First Official German Oktoberfest
In Australia, Oktoberfest is an established term for all kinds of celebrations that involve beer throughout the month of Oktober. However, who can create an atmosphere as authentic as possible to the traditional Munich festivities as people who were born and raised in Germany themselves?
The German Consulate General Sydney, as well as AHK Australien, cordially invite you to join the first Official German Oktoberfest in Sydney! Together with our inaugural event sponsor Audi, we’ll bring you an atmosphere that you will talk about long after the event finished.
Felix Schwarz, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Sydney, Marko Walde, Executive Director of AHK Australien, and Audi Centre Sydney are excited to welcome you to the Munich Brauhaus, The Rocks.
Combine Networking with Tradition, Team Bonding with a Cultural Deep-dive!
For this first Official German Oktoberfest, we have strictly limited tickets available. Your participation will solely depend on a first come first serve principle. It is an exclusive AHK Australien and Consulate General event which means only members and invited people by the Consulate General have access to purchase tickets. As part of your ticket contingent, however, you can extend this invitation to your team, partners, customers, and suppliers.
Witness the traditional tapping and call out “O’zapft is” in your best Bavarian accent, of course followed by “Ein Prosit” with authentic German beer. Share a full table with your team and meet fellow German organisations in the room in a very casual, laid-back setting.
This Oktoberfest will be a great opportunity to nurture existing business connections and create new ones while immersing yourself in a core regional tradition.
