Gunther von Hagens’ BODY WORLDS Vital the original exhibition of real human bodies is coming to Australia for the first time ever, giving visitors a unique chance insight into human health and wellbeing.
Since the opening of Dr von Hagens/ BODY WORLDS in 1995, the first and original display of human bodes, the exhibition has been series has been seen by more than 46 million people, including millions of children, around the globe.
BODY WORLDS Vital focuses on contemporary diseases and ailments that affect individuals most frequently to show the fragility and strength of the human body.
More than 150 real human specimens, including whole bodies preserved through the revolutionary process of plastination invented by Dr von Hagens, are on display in the exhibition.
Visitors will marvel at the life process captured in the exhibition and will leave with a new appreciation of the power we have to keep our bodies healthy.
The specimens that form BODY WORLDS Vital exhibition stem from the Intistute for Plastination in Heidelberg, an established body donation program through which the donors specifically request that their bodies be used for plastination in medical teaching, instruction and public exhibitions.
More than 17,000 donors to date, mostly German and including 14 Australians, have donated their bodies to the Institute for Plastination.
