(Sydney, August 2026). The German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Australien) is proud to announce the second Parliamentary Showcase. On the afternoon of Wednesday, 9 September 2026, member organisations at the forefront of German-Australian business relations will once again come together for an exemplary exhibition at Mural Hall at Parliament House in Canberra.
Building on the success of last year's inaugural showcase, this year's event takes place at a pivotal moment for the bilateral relationship. With the EU-Australia Free Trade Agreement signed earlier this year, German and Australian businesses stand at the threshold of a new era of trade and collaboration, and the Parliamentary Showcase provides the ideal platform to bring that opportunity to life.
Germany remains the European Union's economic powerhouse and one of Australia's most important trading partners. With approximately 600 German companies operating on Australian shores, the German-Australian business community makes a significant and measurable contribution to the Australian economy, generating around 60,000 jobs according to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Beyond business, the ties run deep: over one million Australians claim German heritage, underscoring the enduring human connections that have long underpinned this bilateral relationship. As the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2027, it continues to provide excellent market entry pathways for German companies looking to establish or expand their presence in Australia.
As global dynamics continue to evolve, collaboration across business, industry, and government has never been more critical. Germany and Australia share a strong commitment to advancing the energy transition, securing access to critical minerals, and developing the technologies needed to power a sustainable future. The newly signed Free Trade Agreement adds fresh momentum to these efforts and strengthens the case for deeper partnerships at every level, from corporate to governmental.
The Parliamentary Showcase will highlight the German-Australian impact through trade, industry, and collaboration, featuring companies and organisations from a range of sectors presenting their successful projects and partnerships in Australia.
Sectors featured will include, among others:
- Energy and Clean Technology: From power generation and grid solutions to heating, ventilation, and renewable energy infrastructure, the energy transition is well represented at this year's showcase.
- Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Technology: Germany's reputation for precision engineering is on full display.
- Transport and Mobility: Sustainable transport infrastructure is a growing priority for Australia. Companies participating at this year’s showcase will underline this.
- Health and Life Sciences: Australia's growing healthcare market continues to attract leading German companies. German global players are contributing to Australia's high standard of healthcare and reinforcing Germany's position as a global leader in this sector.
- Digital Transformation and Technology: Digitisation is far from reaching completion. With new technologies launching, having the right partner navigating you through changes is crucial.
- Design, Education and Culture: From equipping your home and office with high-quality and long-lasting products to diving into the German language and culture. There are German elements in more products and initiatives than you may think!
Members of Parliament and the Senate will have the opportunity to meet with exhibiting companies as part of the Parliamentary Showcase, discussing current developments across sectors and exploring how the EU-Australia Free Trade Agreement can translate into tangible outcomes for both countries.
Proud exhibitors include: Bayer, BMW Group, Boehringer Ingelheim, CO2CRC, Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS, German International School Sydney, Goethe-Institut, Hatz Australia, Klüber Lubrication, Mercedes-Benz, Merck Healthcare, Merck Life Science, proMX Group, Progressive Green Solutions, SAP, Siemens Energy, Siemens Mobility, Stiebel Eltron, Top3 by Design, Viessmann Climate Solutions, Wilkhahn, and Wipotec.
