About

Greensteel Australia is developing Australia’s first ultra-low-carbon steel mill and green iron precinct, using hydrogen-powered Danieli technology to produce green iron and steel with zero fossil fuel emissions. The company has placed orders exceeding $1.6 billion with Danieli Group for a DRI plant, electric arc furnaces, a structural steel rolling mill and a rebar rolling mill.

Greensteel has announced Mayfield North in Newcastle (NSW, Australia) as its first strategic site, with a $500 million investment to establish a new all-electric steel mill, returning steelmaking to the Hunter and creating more than 200 direct jobs. The Mayfield facility will produce over 600,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel annually. A second strategic site will underpin the company’s planned integrated green iron and steel precinct.

Greensteel’s sister company Reosteel is a well-established manufacturer of finished steel products for the Australian construction industry.
