Destination Australien – A Webinar Series
Entering a new country and culture often involves many hurdles and raises numerous questions. In our webinar series Destination Australien, we aim to answer many of your questions about Australia, its culture and, above all, business-related topics. Each webinar will focus on a different topic and provide insights from an expert. We will address important issues that are relevant for starting a business Down Under, as legislation and the process of setting up a company can differ in some areas from Australia.
Topic: New M&A rules in Australia – What you need to know when acquiring a company
Until the end of 2025, companies were not required to report mergers to the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission). The authorities saw this as posing a risk that acquisitions that were detrimental to competition could take place unnoticed.
The reform aims to:
- identify at an early stage whether transactions reduce competition
- increase transparency
- accelerate audit processes
- standardise compliance
This webinar is directed at German companies that plan to expand into Australia or are already considering the acquisition of a business.
