From 25–30 October 2026, we will be conducting a Critical Minerals Tour to Australia on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). This is a project-based support measure under the Market Development Program for SMEs. The aim is to bring together key stakeholders from German industry, mining suppliers and representatives of financing institutions with Australian companies and projects in the critical minerals sector, thereby supporting the diversification of German raw material supply chains.

The tour is aimed at companies with high raw material requirements, mining suppliers, and private sector actors such as banks, funds and investment companies. It is particularly directed at German small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large companies operating in Germany for whom the sourcing of critical minerals is essential.

Opportunities for German Companies:

  1. Supply Security: Australia is becoming one of the world's leading producers of critical minerals, offering western partners reliable supply security.
  2. Sustainable Sourcing: The highest ESG standards and close engagement with Traditional Owners are a matter of course in Australia's minerals industry.
  3. Highest Quality: Australian mining companies deliver critical minerals at the highest quality levels for high-tech applications.
  4. Long-Term Partnerships: The EU-Australia Free Trade Agreement of 2026 further deepens the well-established German-Australian economic relationship.

Benefits of Participation

Participants will gain comprehensive insights into the Australian critical minerals market:

  • Contact with Project Developers: At IMARC, the German Day and throughout the journey to Perth, participants will have ample opportunities to network with Australian project developers.
  • Site Visits: Seeing mine and processing projects first-hand rather than just in presentations helps build a deeper understanding of the sector.
  • Contact with Australian Government Representatives: Participants will hear directly from representatives of the Australian government (federal, NSW & WA) about strategies and priorities relating to critical minerals.
