Information Trip to Germany: Mine Rehabilitation
Information Trip to Germany: Mining Rehabilitation
Market development programme: Information trip to Germany for purchasing personnel and multipliers from Australia in the field of mining rehabilitation from 18-22 May 2025
From 18 to 22 May 2025, the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Australien), in cooperation with IHK Cottbus (Cottbus Chamber of Industry and Commerce) and Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI), is organising an information trip to Germany for Australian buyers and multipliers from business and politics in the field of mining rehabilitation on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. This is a project-related funding measure as part of the market development programme for SMEs. Participation is intended to help German companies establish contacts with Australian decision-makers and thus facilitate or expand their entry into the Australian market.
Germany has been able to gather valuable experience in the field of mining rehabilitation for decades through the successful realisation of projects in opencast coal mining rehabilitation. Australian companies are very interested in this topic and would like to learn from the experience of German companies. A recent study by the Australian research institution CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) assumes the closure of almost 240 Australian mines by 2040 and estimates the annual expenditure for the rehabilitation and closure of mines at 4-8 billion Australian dollars.
With the organisation and implementation of this information trip, AHK Australien aims to facilitate or initiate an exchange of knowledge and the associated development of cooperation and business opportunities.
The registration deadline is 31 March 2025 and participation is free of charge for Australian companies.
