What do you want to tell to the Australian Government?

AHK Australien is inviting members and friends to a very special webinar. We will discuss the challenges of the “War for Talent” with two experts, but we will also use the discussion at this webinar to form our Policy Advisory Committee Discussion Paper on the topic.

With the Australian border closed since March 2020, long-existing skills gaps or lack of specialists became acute. How has this impacted businesses and how have leading universities responded to this?

Australia is already suffering from a lack of workers with job ads at their highest in 12 years with businesses struggling to fill positions.

In fact, the most recent figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) revealed that there are 57 per cent more job vacancies now than there was before the pandemic struck.

In May, there were 362,000 available jobs in the country and we had 363,796 Aussies applying to leave the country.

Our speakers are:

  • Sally Wilson, Senior International Strategist at The University of Queensland
  • Hanno Blankenstein, CEO and Co-founder at Unleash Live

The discussion will be moderated by Simone Whetton, Partner at Colin Biggers & Paisley, Board Member of AHK Australien and Chairperson of the Chamber’s Policy Advisory Committee.

We will invite participating companies to share their experiences on the topic during the webinar. Based on the participant input and the overall discussion, the Chamber’s Policy Advisory Committee will develop a Discussion Paper on the topic that we will share with the Australian Government to achieve improvements for affected businesses.

We look forward to welcoming you on the day!
