Business Delegation to Australia: Energy Storage including Hydrogen

German Delegation to Australia

As renewable energy capacity continues to rise on the Australian grid, the need for energy storage to manage intermittent wind and solar generation is becoming greater. By 2050, the Australian Energy Market Operator predicts that Australia will need around 46GW of energy storage capacity, requiring a combination of storage methods, grid management systems and reforms to transmission infrastructure to meet demand.

On the 5th of June, the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce will host an industry conference on the topic of Energy Storage including Green Hydrogen. German and Australian experts from the energy sector will give in-depth information about the trends and developments within the industry and representatives from innovative German companies will present their products and experiences. The event will also be an excellent networking opportunity for all participants.

The conference takes place during the visit of a business delegation of German companies in the energy storage and green hydrogen sectors. The delegation takes place between the 5th and 9th of June with the overarching goal of supporting German SMEs in finding business partners and collaborations in the Australian market. If you have an interest in meeting with any of the companies in the delegation, please contact the Energy Cluster.

The conference and delegation are supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

As part of the delegation the German Energy Solutions Symposium - Energy Storage including Green Hydrogen took place in Melbourne. Find the event infomation here.

AMBARtec AG is a technology start-up in energy and hydrogen storage. Their technology offers compact and long-term energy storage for transport, decentralized reverse power generation with combined heat and power and load management as well as for the mobility of tomorrow. Their hydrogen compact storage technology (HyCS ®) has been demonstrated and proven since early 2022. First commercial units are available from 2023 and as 20-foot standard containers by 2024. Solutions for large-scale applications are being developed as required. AMBARtec’s HyCS ® technology offers the highest storage density, best efficiencies, environmentally friendly production and low water consumption.

Enapter AG

Enapter is a rapidly growing company based in Pisa, Italy with offices in Germany, Thailand and Russia. The company develops and manufactures the patented anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolysers for hydrogen production from water and electrical energy. Hydrogen is considered the most important element to replace hydrocarbons such as gas, oil, coal and all fossil fuels. Green Hydrogen is made with electricity from renewable energy source; it is the base substance to make any carbon free fuel and gas, but can also be used to generate electricity. Hydrogen is an energy carrier useable to satisfy heating or cooling needs, mobility in the transport sector, or to provide feedstock in industry. Enapter is on a rapid growth path, aiming to mass produce the electrolysers. A mass produced AEM electrolyser will become a commodity and compete with fossil fuels purely on price.

INERATEC is a pioneer in the field of Power-to-Liquid applications. The company supplies sustainable fuels as well as chemical products. Modular chemical plants for power-to-X and gas-to-liquid applications use hydrogen from renewable electricity and greenhouse gases such as CO2 to produce e-kerosene, CO2-neutral gasoline, clean diesel or synthetic waxes, methanol or SNG. Founded in 2016, INERATEC has already implemented industrial-scale power-to-liquid plants at German sites to boost the availability of sustainable fuels and chemicals in various transport sectors such as aviation.
