14/10/2021

The German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce is welcoming Professor Bronwyn Fox as its next Honorary President. Previous Presidents of the Chamber included Lucy Turnbull AO, Andrew Mackenzie FRS and Lindsay Fox AC.

The Chamber's Chairman of the Board, Dr Jens Goennemann, says that Professor Fox's expertise will be invaluable in supporting the Chamber's new strategic direction.

“We are delighted that Professor Fox has agreed to join us. She brings with her a wealth of scientific knowledge from the cutting edge of industry technology and research, including in the areas of hydrogen and manufacturing. Moreover, Professor Fox's active involvement in global collaboration and knowledge exchange is a critical success factor congruent with our Chamber's mandate.”

The Chamber's Executive Director, Christoph von Spesshardt, adds: “With Professor Fox as our new President, the Chamber is once more increasing our commitment of becoming the bilateral facilitator for achieving the energy transition needed to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.”

Professor Fox is CSIRO’s new Chief Scientist and has left her role as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) at the Swinburne University of Technology. She is also Chair of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (Victorian Division), a Fellow of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE), a Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

Professor Fox has joined the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce as Honorary President on 7 October 2021 at the Chamber's Growth Summit, where she held her inaugural speech.
