Heart of Australia German Medical Student Engagement

17/04/2018

Bayer has been a foundation sponsor of a highly recognised rural, regional and remote mobile medical service that is now attracting widespread interest amongst German medical students to deliver and hone their skills.

Heart of Australia’s specialist cardiology services has saved lives and provided equitable health service delivery and offers a tangible way to forge closer health relationships and skills between Australia and Germany’s brightest medical minds.

Interest from German medical students to participate in Heart of Australia has been overwhelming, requiring the founder Dr Rolf Gomes to delay organising placement times. The overseas interest was sparked by a German student named Nadja Kutchke who was hosted on the Heart of Australia truck in 2016 and wrote this article about her experience (in German).

Heart of Australia was also featured on an episode of the ABC's Australian Story, titled The Beat Goes On. Click here to watch it on ABC iView.
