Melbourne November 14 2018, Covestro Australia has welcomed international Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility guru Rebecca Lucore to Australia, ahead of a week-long summit which will focus on the firm’s commitment to the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Ms Lucore is best known for her recent work in Pittsburgh where she spearheaded Thinc30, an initiative which brought together business leaders, employees, and citizen philanthropists in a bid to advance the region’s growth in a responsible and sustainable way.
As part of her Australian visit, Ms Lucore will talk to several groups about Covestro’s global commitment to the 17 United National Sustainable Development Goals. These goals (SGDs) are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Through its Making Global Goals Local initiative, the United Nations is working to build a global movement of companies who do business responsibly and innovate around the SDGs.
“Talking with local groups about sustainability is a great way to get everyone thinking about how we can implement the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. At the end of the day, what we’re trying to do is make meaningful change at a local level; change that positively affects how people work, live and innovate” said Rebecca Lucore.
For Covestro Australia’s Managing Director, Rebecca Lee, welcoming Rebecca Lucore to Australia is an important way of reaffirming the connection between the UN’s sustainable Development Goals and Covestro Australia’s local initiatives;

Covestro signed on to the UN’s SDG’s when they were first introduced in 2015, and we’re passionate about implementing them on a local level here in Australia”.
As part of her visit, Rebecca Lucore will speak with representatives from paint and manufacturing industries, as well as Sustainability Victoria, Paint Back and Soft Landing.
