The German-Australian Chamber invites its members and friends to its joint event of networking and discussion on the topic: 2018 FIFA World Cup: Soccer Culture in Australia and Around the World with the Australia-Brazil Chamber of Commerce. Since Australia, Brazil and Germany have all qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, we will take this opportunity to look into cultural differences in soccer between the three nations as well as the rising popularity of soccer in Australia.

Our speakers for the evening are:

Eric Abrams, National Technical Director at Football Federation Australia (FFA) and former National Team Head Coach Belgium.

Labelled by Sky News as ‘Australia’s football revolution’, Eric Abrams is Technical Director at FFA since 2014. Eric played a key role in developing the current generation of Belgium’s national team that was very successful in the 2016 World Cup in Brazil. With his extensive background in elite youth development in Belgium, Eric has been tasked to introduce a new structure in Australian football, to define the Australian playing style and to shape the future of Australian football.

Kyle Patterson, former Football Presenter at SBS TV and former Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Football Federation Australia (FFA).

Kyle gained his knowledge and expertise through his long career in football over the years. In his professional capacity, Kyle has covered five FIFA World Cups and two more as a fan. For the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the 2015 AFC Asian Cup in Australia he led FFA’s media teams.

They will not only share their insights into the upcoming World Cup, but also answer your questions in a fireside chat.

Drinks and canapés will be provided and some other small surprises await you there!
