On the sunny and slightly breezy morning of 7 September, members and friends of the German-Australian Chamber had the opportunity to gain exclusive insights into the practical work processes of Liebherr Australia. Liebherr opened the doors to its impressive facility in Erskine Park, showcasing exciting machines, warehouses, as well as the new and advanced consumer electronics.

Guests arrived at Liebherr at around 7:45 am and were greeted by a sweet and savoury breakfast buffet, which catered to everyone´s morning cravings. A coffee van also rolled in at the same time and made sure that everyone had delicious caffeinated beverages for this unusually early event.

After breakfast, networking and a brief welcome by Lars Mehlan (Director - Events and Marketing), Andrew Esquilant (CEO, Liebherr Australia) welcomed all attendees to the facility. Andrew spoke briefly about Liebherr´s company history and vision before all 50 attendees were split into two groups to explore the working site with the company´s experts. The Watch Us Work event kicked off officially with an engaging presentation in the site’s training facility, which is normally used to educate owners and users of Liebherr machines. After presentation details on Liebherr´s industry, company history and various areas of expertise, a short film on the various challenges that Liebherr cranes can face during their work was shown, which also explained the different types of machine.

The other segment of the two-and-a-half-hour event was a tour through the operational area of Liebherr with Stephen Hogg (National Service Manager Mobile Cranes). Stephen´s passion for his work was evident through and through, as he showed the guests around the spare-part warehouse, the open field displaying some of Liebherr´s most popular machinery, which includes a precision-drilling rig. There was also a tour of the foyer, which contains memorabilia of the company´s success throughout the years.

The event concluded with a raffle, where the lucky winner Martin Forster (Sydney Markets) was presented with an original, to scale model crane.

After some concluding words by Lars Mehlan, who thanked Liebherr Australia for the, the guests had the opportunity to take photos, network further and then slowly make their way back to the CBD.

It truly was a unique experience for members and special thanks go to Liebherr Australia for hosting this event. The Chamber looks forward to many more Watch Us Work events!
