4th Annual Gala Dinner at InterContinental Sydney

On Friday, 16 September 2016, the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce had the pleasure of inviting its members and friends to its 4th Annual Gala Dinner. With the event sold out weeks in advance and nearly 200 people from Chamber members, German and Australian businesses, and high-level political representatives in attendance, the James Cook Ballroom at the InterContinental Sydney was filled to the very last seat.

Kristian Wolf, Executive Director of the Chamber officially opened the night and welcomed the guests, before they were addressed by the new German Ambassador to Australia, our Patron H.E. Dr Anna Prinz as well as Andrew Mackenzie, CEO of BHP Billiton and Chamber President, with both of them stressing the bilateral achievements and the opportunities that lie ahead. George Pappas, representing Principal Partner Linde Material Handling, in his address highlighted the benefits of his organisation’s involvement with the Chamber, in the wider context of global trade.

Over the course of the evening, the guests were treated to a fine 3-course dinner with excellent German wines whilst enjoying the entertainment by the High Rollers Big Band and MC Darryl Lovegrove. Part of the Gala Dinner was also a silent auction, to which we received a large amount of generous donations by member and non-member companies. We are proud to announce that the sum of $12,981 was raised for the benefit of the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

We hope you agree that this gala provided a perfect opportunity to mix, mingle, dance, entertain and enjoy yourselves, be it on the dance floor, at the “floating” German Wine Bar kindly provided by Decante This, or around the silent auction items. We thank our Principal Partner Linde Material Handling, as well as Supporting Partners Audi and BRITA for the support and for making the event possible in the first place.

We already can’t wait for our 5th Annual & 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner next year. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you at one of our many other events.
