Australia-Germany Advisory Group

The Australia-Germany Advisory Group (AGAG) was established in November 2014 by the heads of government of the two countries. It was asked to submit recommendations for a comprehensive renewal of bilateral relations.

The recommendations of the Australia-Germany Advisory Group have been published in a brochure entitled “A fresh look at links between Australia and Germany”. (see below) This also examines the potential for strengthening German-Australian relations.

On 21 October, the German-Chamber of Industry and Commerce, together with Premium Partner SAP, hosted a roundtable discussion followed by an exclusive luncheon on the occasion of the visit of Professor Dr Maria Boehmer, Minister of State and head of the German side of the Australia-Germany Advisory Group (AGAG). In the evening President Lucy Hughes Turnbull AO hosted a Reception at her residence.

Berlin Delegation: What's next in the bilateral business relationship?
The visit to Berlin directly preceded the first full meeting of the Australia-Germany Advisory Group, which was established by German Chancellor Merkel and former Australian Prime Minister Abbott during their discussions in Sydney in November 2014.This was just before Chancellor Merkel attended the German-Australian Business Reception organised by GACIC.
