It gives us great pleasure to invite you to an inspiring and innovative forum for young researchers – the Falling Walls Lab Australia. The Lab will provide a platform for 25 excellent young researchers and social scientists, academics, entrepreneurs and professionals from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Island Nations to present their research work, business model, innovative project, social initiative or idea in front of peers and a distinguished audience from academia and business. It is fast-paced and challenging: each participant has just three minutes on stage.

The panel of seven eminent judges from academia, business, government, and finance will select the winner of this event. This distinguished jury will be chaired by Dr Charles Day, CEO of the Office of Innovation & Science Australia.

Falling Walls Labs take place globally throughout the year. The winners of each international Falling Walls Lab qualify for the Falling Walls Lab Finale in Berlin, which is held every year on 8 November.

The Falling Walls Lab Australia will be hosted by the Australian Academy of Science in partnership with the Embassy of Germany, on 12 September 2017, at the Academy’s Shine Dome in Canberra. We would like to invite you to attend this exciting event. Please note that this is a free event and places are limited so we encourage you to register your attendance below by Monday 4 September.

The event starts at 11am and finishes at around 4.30pm followed by an evening reception hosted by the German Ambassador. This is an excellent opportunity to boost innovation in Australia, strengthen research-industry links and also deepen bilateral relations between Australia and Germany. This Lab is supported by the Falling Walls Foundation in Berlin, the German Foreign Office, the German Australian Chamber for Industry and Commerce (GACIC), the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, as well as a range of industry sponsors. The high-profile audience at the forum will include entrepreneurs, business CEOs, government representatives, investors, academics and other innovation stakeholders from around Australia.
