‘David meets Goliath’ is the first seminar series dedicated to connecting corporate and start-up Australia. It is now recognised that the creative potential, agility, digital literacy and intellectual property of start-ups offers rich complementary assets for many corporations who are often too occupied with addressing transactional needs. Moreover, they lack in many cases the innovation capabilities, systems and processes needed in a fast-changing economy. On the other side, corporations have the assets (funds, equipment, support functions, customers, brand) required to prototype, accelerate and scale-up entrepreneurial ideas.

The ‘David meets Goliath’ series will be a unique opportunity to gain first hand insights into the fascinating topic of how old and new businesses can enter collaborative engagement models and they overcome commercial, contractual and cultural differences between these two communities.

This first event in this series will feature the partnership between Bank of Queensland (Goliath) and River City Labs (David). In two presentations and an interactive panel discussion, you will learn how to establish mutually beneficial relationships and will be able to discuss your related experiences with peers from both communities.

Our keynote speakers for the evening are below:

  • Donna Vinci, Chief Operations and Digital Information Officer at Bank of Queensland, GE - Enterprise Solutions;
  • Aaron Birkby, CEO Start Up Catalyst and Entrepreneur in Residence at River City Labs; and
  • Paul Martyn, Deputy Director General, Strategy and Innovation, QLD Department of Science, Information, Technology and Innovation.
