On the morning of the 14th November, members and friends of the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce followed the invitation by our the Executive Member Rheinmetall Defence Australia to have the unique opportunity to see the BOXER CRV at Supacat’s premises in Port Melbourne.

After a warm welcome by the chamber’s Membership Director Tina Thoms, Rheinmetall Australia’s Managing Director Gary Stewart welcomed all attendees to this special “Watch us Work” event.

Gary held an inspiring presentation about Rheinmetall´s company history and vision as Rheinmetall’s offer to the Commonwealth would establish a sovereign military vehicle industry with significant export capabilities to markets globally. This would see the Australian manufacture of BOXER CRV for the Australian Defence Force, as well as the manufacture of the tracked infantry fighting vehicle LYNX and the sophisticated LANCE turret in Australia for local and overseas markets.

After a short safety brief all guests were able to get onto the production grounds having the chance to get up close to the BOXER CRV. Everyone listened magnetised to Simon Coburn‘s lively explanation that the BOXER CRV is the leading vehicle in its class when it comes to protection and its ability to traverse difficult terrain.

And then the really exciting part for our members began: it was time to inspect the BOXER CRV first-hand and climb into this fascinating vehicle to get a feel for the power and engineering skill behind it.

After the informative presentations and the little adventure our guests were able to recharge energies during morning tea where everyone had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in further discussions.

What a great way to start the day by listening to engaging insights and participating in hands-on technical experiences. With plenty of new ideas and valuable connections the attendees departed to their offices.

The German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce would like to thank all guests for attending. We especially thank Gary Stewart and his team from Rheinmetall Defence Australia for sharing informative insights and giving our members this unique opportunity to see the BOXER CRV up close.
